Garage Screen Sits Across from the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

Just outside of the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Moscow, there's a new pop-up cinema called Garage Screen that was inspired by Bedouin tents. The temporary cinema site created by Armenian architectural studio SNKH was created to host a series of international films and its form is a tribute to nomad architecture. As SNKH co-founder Armine Snkhchyan described to Dezeen, "We wanted to highlight its temporary, ephemeral nature. From day one, we knew that it should be light and should seem kind of fragile, with no walls or hard barriers as constructive elements."

The pop-up cinema consists of an external steel frame and a PVC membrane that holds a large screen and a limited number of auditorium seats inside the structure to meet the current need for social distancing protocols.
