Unlike other pieces of customizable furniture, the Polyhedra Modular Coffee Table looks like a work of art. It takes geometrical shapes that appear to exist predominantly in the scientific world and applies it to the design of this table. Like clouds of molecules, the individuals sections of this table appear to float right before a person's eyes thanks to the use of negative space throughout its base.
Designed by Cape Town-based Haldane Martin, the Polyhedra Modular Coffee Table was inspired by images of human bones seen through microscopes. Rearrangeable into 24 different shapes, it boasts built-in magnets that enables the pieces to attach and detach easily. The designer appropriately and playfully describes it as "LEGO for grownups."
