Electrical Socket Redesigns

The Clack Plug Design Combines Outlet and Switch to Conserve Energy

This plug design also functions as a switch. The Clack plug combines the standard electrical socket with a flip switch. The design is from Goeun Choi, Jeongsoo Heo and Younghun Lim.

This functionality-increasing plug design allows you to plug in your devices directly into the switch. This means you would have to turn the plug off when it isn't in use, thereby also conserving energy. Compared to the existing outlet design, power can be switched off with less power and more ease. The electricity-curbing design takes the user experience into account and makes powering down more of a priority as you have to turn off the power source manually.

The next step would be to just unplug it all together to be even more energy efficient, but this is a wonderful step.
