The PLAY Project by Ka-Lai Chan is an art installation that has a very ghostly quality about it. It involves furniture that appears to be growing right out of the walls they are placed against. In reality, they have simply been covered with white tape, which stretches over them and onto the walls behind them. The Dutch designer was asked to participate in the community based art project located in a livingroom/ gallery in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Altogether, 10 artists and inhabitants were working on this project.
Comprised of picture frames, lamps, tables and more, the PLAY Project by Ka-Lai Chan may look simple, but looks can often be deceiving. Upon closer inspection, it is clear that a lot of precious time was spent meticulously layering every surface with the tape.
