Plant Architect Designed a Large-Scale Nursing Dormitory in Bangkok

Plant Architect has completed its nurse dormitory in Bangkok, Thailand, to house the Thai Red Cross Society. Dubbed the Nawarachupatum, this building rises high into Bangkok's skyline and features a unique textural facade.

The 26-story high building features 523 rooms, each unit suitable for two guests. Each unit features a living area, sleep area, canteen, library, washroom, and multipurpose room. Nawarachupatum is located around surrounding buildings that also house doctors and nurses.

The site is oriented to work with the surrounding dormitories to create an enclosed courtyard for the healthcare workers - offering a refuge from the crowded and busy hospital atmosphere. The architects favored natural light and ventilation to create a breezy and comfortable living environment. The facade is designed with a zigzag format which allows for privacy on each balcony.
