The Retro Phone Booth Makes a Reappearance

What to do with old, unused and out-of-service phone booths? Put them in offices as quirky decor of course! At least that is what Creative Department, an advertising firm in Cincinnati is doing. Since so much of office and personal communications has moved to the mobile world, rendering pay phones and phone booths virtually obsolete, the phone booth structure provides workers a private area to use their cell phones - giving the phone booth some re-purposed functionality. AOL Ventures in London, Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park California, and Plymouth Meeting in Pennsylvania have taken a similar approach and added whimsical British Red or Superman accessorized phone-booths.

To get in on this idea yourself either for your own personal use or office decorating, eBay is offering phone-booths sporadically as many are being sold off. As low-cost as a few hundred dollars in some instances, they are the perfect way to up your awesome factor at work and infuse the workplace with some eccentrically retro decor.

Implications - A new idea to spruce up the office with function. Not only does it re-purpose out of date technology, but it is hilariously awesome and provides some office whimsy.
