This Personality Disorder Art Captures Crippling Disorders

Artist Tatiana Takacova creates a series called ‘5 F’ creating personality disorder art that attempts to capture some of the most common disorders. Objects and still-life photographs are used in order to illustrate the nature of the disorder.

The disorders that Takacova looks at are depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Schizoid disease, disociative disease and paranoia. For depression, the artist uses drab colors on the wall with an empty picture frame. There is also a plant on a table that is dead and decaying. For obsessive-compulsive disorder, there is plastic wrapped around the furniture with books stacked and numbers counting them on the side.

With her personality disorder art, Takacova captures serious disorders in an interesting way. It allows people to get a sense of the disease through visual imagery as opposed to a scientific definition.
