Founded in April 2012, Peace Mix is a UK-based joint venture between the Big Lottery Fund and conflict resolution social enterprise the New Day Foundation (NDF). Peace Mix endeavors to provide an opportunity for young musicians to exercise their talents, collaborate with others in their community and unite in a campaign promoting peace.
The NDF is newly formed and led by former gang members from Birmingham who have focused their futures on encouraging peace amongst at-risk youth in the communities in which they feuded for the last decade.
Peace Mix has put out the call for "lyrics, rhymes, melodies, spoken word and musical hooks" for a project they describe as a crowd-sourced collaboration song featuring as many youthful voices as possible. The best entries received will be invited to perform the song in its finished form on August 28 in London, and has organized a tour across the nation leading up to the big event.
