Geometric Parks

Sit, Stroll and Enjoy the View at Pau Casals Square

In Bilbao, Spain, there is a green meadow with hills made of fluctuating triangles. This is Pau Casals Square, a geometric park designed by landscape architects ACXT and part of Bilbao's project to improve urban spaces and the quality of life for residents.

Pau Casals Square connects the surrounding neighborhoods and also compounds an area that is prone to landslides. By preserving existing rock and integrating triangular patches of vegetation with concrete to reinforce weak spots, the architects have renovated an old, unused rocky slope into a place where residents can meet, sit and stroll.
