Morrisons and Quadient Have Launched Parcel Pending by Quadient

Quadient expanded its partnership with Morrisons to install Parcel Pending by Quadient lockers across Morrisons supermarkets, beginning with 125 locations in June 2026 before expanding across approximately 500 stores. The open-network lockers provide secure self-service parcel collection and returns, featuring multi-carrier compatibility and support for services including prescription collection, click-and-collect orders, key exchange and spare parts retrieval.

The rollout follows successful deployments at Morrisons Daily stores and forms part of Quadient's broader locker strategy, which includes more than 27,000 units worldwide and a target of 40,000 by 2030.

For shoppers, supermarket-based lockers combine parcel collection and returns with routine grocery trips, reducing missed deliveries and offering greater flexibility. The expansion also supports more efficient last-mile delivery operations while increasing access to convenient out-of-home delivery services.

Trend Themes

  1. Supermarket Locker Networks — Grocery retailers are becoming high-frequency logistics hubs as parcel lockers merge errands, returns, prescriptions, and pickup services into everyday shopping trips.
  2. Open-network Delivery Access — Multi-carrier locker systems create shared infrastructure that can reduce delivery friction while expanding consumer choice across e-commerce and essential services.
  3. Errand-based Fulfillment — Combining parcel collection with routine grocery visits reflects a shift toward convenience ecosystems where physical retail locations support broader urban logistics needs.

Industry Implications

  1. Grocery Retail — Supermarkets have an opportunity to increase store utility and shopper visits by embedding parcel, prescription, and click-and-collect services into existing locations.
  2. Last-mile Logistics — Carrier-agnostic locker networks can improve route efficiency and reduce failed deliveries by shifting more parcels into secure out-of-home collection points.
  3. E-commerce Fulfillment — Retailers and marketplaces may benefit from flexible return and pickup infrastructure that makes online shopping more convenient without relying solely on home delivery.
