There have been many different building concepts centered on green design, and one of them is Parcel D, an eco-friendly housing complex located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, designed by Oppenheim Architecture + Design.
Parcel D is a building that will provide private residences -- 165 units -- for urban families. Featuring a stacked-looking exterior, Parcel D comprises home units that feature balconies with lush greenery that allows for "evapotranspiration." This helps to reduce pollution in the air as well as a natural way to cool the residences. Further, the building will collect rain water to use for watering its surrounding gardens and foliage so water consumption is controlled.
Along with residences, the environmentally friendly Parcel D complex will include a gym as well as retail stores and a restaurant on the ground level.
