Monster-Scanned Photography

Parasites by Marcus DeSieno Blends Old and New Technology

Parasites by Marcus DeSieno, a native of Albany, New York who is currently pursuing his MFA in Studio Art from the University of South Florida, is a unique photo series that is meant to blend old and new technological techniques. Created for a school project, the "shots were taken using a scanning electron microscope and subsequently exposed to dry-plate gelatin ferrotype plates," explains Neatorama.

While those familiar with such photographic techniques will be impressed for specific reasons, Parasites by Marcus DeSieno will speak to others on other levels as well. Neatorama makes a connection between the resulting images to retro monsters found in 1950s horror movies. This pop culture reference is sure to spawn others. Granted, it is hard to top such a creepy comparison.
