Artist Ken Delmar Creates Exquisite Artworks on Paper Towels

Paper towels are traditionally used for wiping spills and occasionally as substitution for toilet paper, but Ken Delmar uses them to make his paper towel portraits.

Admittedly, Delmar says his new interest bloomed accidentally; as he cleaned his brushes one evening, he realized the paint looked incredibly vibrant on the paper towels in comparison to his standard canvases. The artist then took to using these towels as his primary means to illustrating, and further discovered the materials’ absorption allowed for an easier means to layering.

The end result is a series of paintings on paper towel, making Delmar’s artwork newly experimental, and perhaps paves the way for more interesting attempts at unconventional painting mediums. Delmar is currently showcasing his works at an exhibition in Manhattan.
