The Panasonic GH5S Ditches Some Quality for Low-Light Performance

The Panasonic GH5S is the latest mirrorless camera that excels amazingly in low light. Thanks to a new dual ISO 10.2-megapixel sensor, this camera offers amazing performance in low-light situations. The reduced resolution of the previous GH5 models may seem like a downgrade, but the reduced resolutions allows for a higher native ISO -- the GH5S has a native ISO of 51200 -- granting the camera reduced noise in low-light situations. Early tests of the camera have shown its ability to be exceptional, and while there is a reduction in the quality of photos, the increased performance in dark situations sets this camera apart from its competitors.

The Panasonic GH5S is primarily designed to be a video camera, and can record Cinema 4K at 30 or 60 frames per second. It also comes pre-installed with V-LogL software for color grading, increased support for external mics and a code in and code out feature to better sync footage with multiple cameras. Unfortunately, the GH5S does not come equipped with in-body stabilization, but this does seem to indicate the marketing of the camera for more professional users, as they often already have external stabilization units.
