Philippine Airlines has introduced a new in-flight safety video dubbed the "PAL Safetynovela" that reimagines standard pre-flight briefing content in a telenovela-style narrative. The six-minute video embeds mandatory safety procedures within a dramatic storyline inspired by Filipino television drama, showing characters interacting through scenes that double as safety demonstrations. It premiered on board the airline’s Airbus A350-1000 and is expected to roll out across other flights.
The Safetynovela replaces conventional step-by-step demonstrations with storytelling rooted in cultural elements familiar to Filipino audiences, including dialogue and emotional beats tied to routine instructions such as fastening seat belts, locating emergency exits, and using oxygen masks. The video sequences are set against recognisable Philippine settings, including Palawan, Bohol, and Hacienda Rosalia. Philippine Airlines developed the project with creative agency BBDO Guerrero as part of its brand platform "Care That Comes From The Heart."
