Outdoor Chopping Board Facilitates Multitasking Meal Prep in the Wild

The creators of the Outdoor Chopping Board recognize that the same implements that you use in your kitchen don't often suffice when you're preparing food in the wilderness. For a style of cooking that requires flexibility, compactness and ease of use, five designers developed an origami-inspired cutting board.

Zhuo Shao-Kai, Wu Chun-I, Lan Szu-Ting, Ng Song-Wei and Yeh Shih-Yui have proposes a foldable polypropylene surface that can pack flat when campers are on the move. The thin but durable material could stand to be creased over and over again, enabling the al fresco chef to dice his ingredients and contain them within this convertible bowl. Perforations in the base of the Outdoor Chopping Board allow it to be used as a colander and possibly as a steamer too. It's no surprise that this concept came out as a winner within the 2014 Red Dot Design Awards.
