The Piles by ORNDUVALD Metro Installation Creates Immersive Pubic Spaces

The 'Piles' project by ORNDUVALD is a collection of three striking subway art designs that are representative of soil, water and rubble. The pieces each resemble a stacked pile of objects and are made up of over 40,000 round elements reminiscent of pixels.

These pixels are displayed in a palette of nine different hues that are paired together to create complex compositions that brighten a dark and drab underground transit area.

Displayed throughout the Copenhagen Metro, this installation piece by architects Pétur Örn Eyjólfsson and Søren Oskar Duvald of ORNDUVALD encourages the development of immersive public spaces that create a unique experience for urban dwellers. With plans of an underground expansion throughout 2018, this unique form of urban architecture aims to add an artful element of beauty to sterile public environments.
