YOY's New Collection of Optical Illusion Products Debuts at Milan Design Week

Adding an element of surrealism or a whimsically magical touch to design, Japanese design studio YOY recently unveiled its latest collection of optical illusion products, which include furniture and design accents at Milan Design Week 2014.

The new collection of optical illusion products include a lamp that projects the shape of a shade onto a wall, a rug that can also be used as a chair and a tray that visually looks like it's defying gravity.

"In this exhibition, we tried to make a new story between a product and a space," says YOY co-founder Naoki Ono. "We would like to create strange feelings with humor in an ordinary room."

Using optical illusion tricks which include a hole in the head of the lamp with an LED light inside, a 10-millimeter-thick aluminium sheet inside the rug so it can be both bendable and strong when it is transformed into a chair and a stainless-steel clip for the tray.
