Dual-Role Labels

The Sticker on this Olive Oil Bottle Peels Off to Become a Clever Oil Spout

Completely unexpected and uncommonly convenient, an oil spout can be made out of a label. Designer Alessia Sistori dreamed up a unique and wonderfully functional idea for her Olio D'Oliva branding that provides a disposable lip for the ease of pouring.

The motivation behind this resourceful vessel came from the new laws in Europe that forbid the use of refillable oil bottles at public eateries. The solution is to incorporate this often metal oil spout accessory into the sleek packaging––made right into the sticker on the front. The circular section of the label can be peeled off easily and curled into the mouth of the glass neck. This has the double function of producing a round window, exposing the beautiful color of the contents. When it's emptied, the entire bottle can be recycled, and a fresh new one can be opened as a practical and economical solution for restaurants.
