In an effort to keep your computer communications private, Lamplighter Games has developed a browser application called 'Off the Record.' Mimicking the popular mobile application 'SnapChat,' the app allows you to send messages or pictures that can only be viewed for 5 seconds. After that, it's gone forever.
The developers of Off the Record were inspired by SnapChat and originally called the application 'ChapSnat.' The co-founder of Lamplighter Games noted that "We both love using Snapchat, so we thought it would be fun to put Snapchat in the browser." During a TechCrunch Hackathon, the computer-based messaging app was created. Since then, the company has developed it into a full product offering.
Currently, Off the Record only works on Google Chrome and Yammer. However, the group plans to extent it to Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox.
