Australian homeware label Spark & Burnish worked in collaboration with Andrew Simpson from the Sydney-based industrial design studio Vert Design on the Ocean Plastic Knob. The collection of handles can be used for cabinets and as wall hooks as well. Visually, the pastel handles resemble marble stone, but in reality, they're constructed from recycled ocean plastic materials. This project is an initiative to raise money for two different organizations that are dedicated to ridding the ocean of plastic waste.
The Ocean Plastic Knob collection is manufactured using plastic gathered from Sea Shepard Australia, which is a non-profit ocean conservation organization. The profits raised by selling the collected plastic goes to its Marine Debris collection program that works to clean up the coastline. In addition to this, funds from the collection will also go towards the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. There are four colors available -- black, gray, pink and green, with the option to order custom colors.
