The Surfrider Foundation 'Ocean Armor' Campaign Shows a Lack of Protection

To raise awareness about the dangers of pollution to wildlife in the oceans, the Surfrider Foundation has released a collection of inspired pieces called Ocean Armor.

Ocean Armor is intense and socially significant art that hopes to make the general public more aware, while simultaneously captivating viewers with the detailed beauty of these sculptures. The collection is comprised of an otter, dolphin, crane and a clownfish. Each individual structure is intricate and illustrates the animal fully clad in medieval armor. Ocean Armor is making waves around the world and aims to aid the ocean and appeal to socially conscious individuals.

The exhibit is named "They can't help themselves" and is travelling the world. The series is comprised of several different animal structures that are completely constructed out of brass armor. According to the Surfrider Foundation website, the inspiration behind the project was "[t]o convey our need to protect these animals, this collection of life-size armor was born. Transcending cultural and regional boundaries, these artifacts are meant to inspire all to preserve the ocean and the myriad of creatures that call it home."
