Subway System Upgrades

The NYC Train System Will Be Transforming in the Next Five Years

The NYC train system has a grand past but most people who've traveled on it would probably suggest that the train system is in need of a serious update. New York transit users might be happy to hear that the MTA is looking to implement some major changes. The company plans on adding 1,025 subway cars which is inclusive of 750 open-gangway cars -- basically cars that are completely open and allow passengers to move from one end of the train to the other (Torontonians and Londoners would recognize these.) Many other changes are coming including in-train WiFi, USB chargers, digital displays and countdown clocks. In the next five years, NYC's transit system may look almost like new.

These planned NYC train updates show how important it is for cities and the transportation industry to stay up-to-date with the changing needs of riders. Substantial upgrades wouldn't just improve current rider experience, it would also encourage new riders to hop on as well.
