Dreamy Mutilation Depictions

Nomi Chi Paints Surreal Illustrations of Subjects with Open Wounds

Nomi Chi is definitely in a league of her own when it comes to illustrative style. Fusing elements of the macabre with the surreal, but never entirely fitting into either of the two genres exclusively, the incredibly talented painter confounds eyes with depictions that can most easily be described as strange and beautiful.

Many of Nomi Chi's creations feature beautiful females along with exotic animals. Whether they're majestic tigers with girls in nightgowns or an unapologetic pixie with a squid around her neck, Chi's subjects always manage to weird people out in the best ways possible. If that isn't bizarre enough, several of Chi's paintings depict badly wounded ladies with missing ligaments and fatal injuries. The strange thing about it all is that even with these grotesque elements, the artist's work is still compelling.

Nomi Chi is a Toronto-born Vancouver-based artist who also does tattoo work in addition to her hypnotizing illustrations.
