Audio-Inspired Seating

Noize Chairs Turn Audible Waves into Visible Textures for Sitting Surfaces

These Noize Chairs must immediately make you ask where their inspiration came from. They're wonderful and completely wacky-looking and they seem to verge on avant-garde sculptures over seating objects. The influence behind the design is in the name of the peculiar pieces; the noise of the city is interpreted and incorporated into the product's physical form.

Estudio Guto Requena took recordings of the streets of São Paulo, Brazil, mapped out the resultant sound graphs and extrapolated them to shape a three-dimensional chair. The computer modeling led to 3D printing to produce Noize Chairs in various colors. Black and red versions can be seen in the company's online gallery, exuding a hue-based boldness to complement their formal flair.
