Pencil-Supported Lamps

The Niki Lamp Made of Recycled Plastic Sits Atop a Tripod of Wooden Pencils

California-based Dutch designer Sander Bakker created a line of recycled plastic lamps called Niki. Each oval-shaped lamp sits atop a tripod created with pencils. There is a slight portion of each pencil that is extended out of the bottom of the lamp. This playful lamp stand encourages a child-like aura within each lamp.

The recycled plastic lamps rest on the eraser end of the pencils and come in two different styles. One style embodies an elegant look using three traditionally beige colored pencils. The other style uses three different colored pencils that are red, blue and green.

This lamp was created by Sander Bakker as a tribute to his late son. The Niki lamp is also named after his son Nikolaas. With his son in mind, the goal for this lamp was evoke a child-like sense of play among adults while simultaneously appealing to the creative minds of children themselves.
