Laundry-Inspired Office Dividers

Nichetto’s Notes Were Inspired by Hanging Laundry in Venice

Swedish firm Offecct Lab, known for developing sustainable products including furniture for the workplace, has enlisted Italian designer Luca Nichetto in creating a creative design for room dividers called Notes.

This set of office dividers was inspired by the hanging laundry that can be found in the alleyways of Venice, Nichetto’s hometown. Each divider is made from two cushioned boards with recycled felt sandwiched in between the rounded corners.

The new designs are extremely effective as they are capable of absorbing sound from not just one side, but from two while still maintaining the design aesthetics of the divider and they allow for a visual connection between the separate spaces.

"My brief from Offecct was to create a new kind of sound panel that didn’t have to be fixed on the wall but more like a free standing object. At the same time it should work with recyclable felt made of waste from the upholstery production," says Nichetto on how he wanted his finished product to function.
