The Next-Gen 911 Porsche Is an Evolution of a Classic Performance Car

Porsche recently unveiled its updated Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but the company has not slowed down as it has already announced that it is ready to reveal the next-gen 911 Porsche. To build anticipation for this release, Porsche has released a a set of teaser images that feature August Achleitner, chief engineer for the 911 range, along with the a new vehicle concealed under a camouflaged wrap. This teaser gives a decent look at the car, and while no specs are stated, it is clear that the new model will feature a wider body and appears to more of an evolution rather than and revolution.

In the accompanying press release, Achleitner stated that the next-gen 911 Porsche would retain the rear mounted flat-six engine, though an electric engine may not be completely out of the question. The engineer did dismiss any questions regarding an autonomous feature and stated that the "911 will be one of the last cars to drive autonomously." The new model will feature full digital instrumentation and will update the drive system with a mix of rear-and all-wheel drive.
