Art-Inspired Pieces Left Quite an Impression At New York Fashion Week

Art-inspired couture abounded at New York fashion week, the Fall 2009 collections filled with brush strokes, ride with what looked like impressionist-style inspiration.

Some, like BCBG Max Azria's Fall 2009 dresses, used brush strokes in rich colors, which oozed with the emotion you can often sense with some oil on canvas, while designers like Anna Sui went for the punch and pizazz one might image an eccentric French teacher to wear. Rodarte, on the other hand, seemed to express darker feelings in his black and leathery pieces.

Heavy on, but not limited to, florals, Fall 2009 fashion collections by Rodarte, Anna Sui, Narciso Rodriqguez, BCBG, Jill Stuart, Aquascutum, Alexandra Agoston and Lela Rose bloomed with bright colors, a vibrancy so needed in these economically troubling times.
