Lantern-Like Pendant Lamps

The New Old Light by Kimu Design is Traditional and Industrial

The New Old Light is like a cross between a traditional Chinese lantern and a modern pendant lamp, hence its simple yet clever name. By combining the two, the light fixture manages to create a twist on both. Nevertheless, the final design is still classic and simple, which is one of the main reasons people are attracted to the two lamps in the first place.

Designed by KIMU Design, a studio based in Taiwan, the New Old Light adds texture to the modern metal element while bringing an industrial feel to the paper part. Interestingly, the latter serves a bigger purpose. When pulled down, it helps provide a directional light as opposed to an ambiant glow when raised.

The New Old Light is set to make its debut at Pulse 2013.
