These New Nutrition Labels Pertain to the Realistic Consumer

The FDA has created new nutrition labels that are designed to be easier to understand.

The new design features important enlarged statistics because the old version has often been overlooked. These new numbers have been designed and recalculated in accordance with the actual serving sizes that Americans consume. This is going to change and impact many families and citizens. Because of the transformation, people will be more mindful of how much they consume, and hopefully deterred from over consuming.

Noticeably, the caloric food count has been amplified, which will help dieters and conscious mothers avoid certain foods. As well, the Servings Per Container has been expanded and the calculation of sizes has been changed to be more realistic and targeted to a fuller portion. For example, the ice cream carton label has been increased to show the nutrition on full cup of ice cream as oppose to half a cup.

The older labels reflect how people consumed food back in 1994, but now with a more realistic and current approach we can be more mindful of a healthy well-balanced diet.
