Nothing about ‘lacquered paper-objects’ is as it seems. One first impression, viewers may mistake these things as large black pebbles. They are, in fact, containers which have been finished using lacquer. One would assume that these containers were sculpted using a material like wood due to its shape and texture, but in actuality Nendo crafted these objects using a 3D printer that cut through copious layers of paper. The lacquer finishing acts as a binding agent to keep all the papers in place, and the final product emulates the look of wood grain despite being much more complex in design.
