As past of the Heathrow Nature Positive Plan, which strives to protect and improve biodiversity around the airport, Heathrow opened the Nature Traffic Control Tower at Causeway Nature Reserve—one of the 13 biodiversity sites located around and managed by the airport. This birdwatching tower styled to look like the real Heathrow control tower is free to visit as part of a guided tour of the nature reserve, which provides the opportunity to see dozens of bird species, as well as insects, snakes, mice and noteworthy plants.
Other action items on the Heathrow Nature Positive Plan also include increasing the amount of land the airport manages for conservation purposes and investing in UK forests and peatlands.
