Vulgar Paperback Makeovers

Artist Na Kim Turns Popular Novel Covers into Crude Homonyms

New York-based graphic designer and illustrator Na Kim playfully updates classic novel titles with her latest hand-sketched drawings of popular paperback covers. Kim's new covers have a comically crude side to them as she creatively replaces title words with similar-sounding vulgar ones.

Kim's updated novel cover drawings playfully mix humor and wordplay with realistic drawing techniques. Her new cover designs seemingly look like the original popularized fiction novels except for one clear difference. All of Kim's new covers cleverly replace one or several of the words in the novel's original title with a suggestive and naughty ones. For example, Kim's hyper-realistic drawing of 'The Catcher in the Rye' book cover cleverly reads, 'The Catcher in my Thighs.' Other noteworthy examples include 'Madame Ovary' and 'The Unbearable Lightness of Peeing.'
