These My White Trash Family Portraitures Cleverly Juxtapose Art and Food

Philadelphia native and artist Kim Alsbrooks creatively turned a series of crumpled up cans into works of art by superimposing miniature portraits from the 17th and 18th art world. The result is a series of striking pop culture images that juxtapose the antiquated stigma of the upper class with cheap, low-brow alcoholic beverages tossed away as trash.

Alsbrooks' series, titled My White Trash Family, is intended to be a social commentary on the extreme gap between rich and poor citizens living in the Southern states in the U.S. Alsbrooks' cleverly juxtaposes high class portraits with empty beer cans as a way to bring to attention the biases that come with striking monetary differences. These crushed can portraits are visually stimulating to look at and bring to attention several issues of class still existing in America.
