IKEA Presents its MÄVINN Collection Celebrates Asia

IKEA introduces its new MÄVINN collection, which is made up of 20 handmade items that are crafted by artisans are supported by seven different charitable companies in Asia. The capsule celebrates the rich culture and its craftsmanship. It features rugs, baskets, a wall organizer, bags, an apron, a lamp shade, and cushion covers.

Paulin Machado, a designer at IKEA of Sweden states "We were particularly impressed by the lampshade made from natural banana fiber, which is a one-year crop. Rather than letting the trunks go to waste, they are dried and cut into strips that are braided or woven. Skilled workers then use a jig to shape and sew the braids into a simple yet elegantly handmade lampshade that emits a warm and inviting light."
