Yamaha Released the Sequel to its 'Motoroid' With Improved Specs

The Motoroid 2 is a self-riding electric motorcycle that features no handlebars or other standard controls. It is the next generation of Yamaha’s Motoroid concept bike, which was first revealed in 2017. The Motoroid 2 uses an image recognition AI system to recognize the rider’s face and gestures, a self-balancing technology called AMCES (Active Mass Center Control System) to adjust its posture and stability, and a haptic human-machine interface that wraps around the hips to foster non-verbal communication between rider and machine. The Motoroid 2 can move autonomously, follow the rider around, and park itself with a large centerstand.

The Motoroid 2 is not a production model, but a prototype that showcases Yamaha’s vision of a futuristic motorcycle that looks and acts like a living creature. Yamaha has not announced any pricing or availability details for the Motoroid 2, but it plans to demonstrate its working prototype at the Events Japan Mobility Show 2023 in November. The Motoroid 2 is unlikely to hit the streets any time soon, but it may inspire new developments in Yamaha’s electric motorcycle lineup, which currently consists of several lower-power electric scooters.
