The Mosaic 220V Lamp Features and Excised Image of an Oil Lamp

Contemporary and old-fashioned design are married together in the Mosaic 220V Lamp. This eccentric light fixture has a distinctly modern look about it, yet it visually alludes to its pre-electricity ancestor with a symbolic surface effect. The Studio Taschide piece is made from a couple of thin sheets of metal that were cut from square tiles. Its most prominent feature, however, involves the removal of some of its material.

The corners of the Pulpo illuminator have been delicately rounded to give it a softer look. A lightbulb is sandwiched between the pair of panels, allowed to shine out the sides of the Mosaic 220V Lamp and through a narrow window in the facade. This cutout takes the familiar silhouette of an elegant antique oil lamp, paying homage to earlier technology and design.
