Suspended in mid-air, a sculpture called 'Monte-Meubles' makes it look as if a God decided to detach a room and lift it into the air. Created by artist Leandro Erlich, the surreal installation is composed of a life-size room held up high by a ladder. The room itself looks like someone literally ripped it out of a building. Broken cement and exposed pipes line the edges of the relocated room. Though it's attached to a ladder, the room still looks like it's floating on its own accord.
Erlich made the sculpture for the Le Voyage a Nantes festival in Nantes, France. The festival takes over the city biannually with a series of outdoor works. The Monte-Meubles was placed as the centerpiece in a large square where it dominated the space.
