Intricate Steel Insect Sculptures

Metalsmith, Elizabeth Goluch uses gold, silver, copper and gemstones to make these highly detailed metal insect sculptures. Each bug is a one of a kind creation inspired by Goluch's lifelong interest in nature and insects.  The artist says she is, “drawn to the beauty, but also to the danger in nature.”

Each of the intricate pieces also holds a tiny surprise hidden within the bug's body; such as the cicada, which houses a small gemstone music note pendant made of gold.  To give you perspective of the size of these sculptures â€" the blue dragonfly's hinged wing span is 11”, the cicada is 10” long, and the creepy earwig is just shy of 13”.
