Leadoff Studio & Spora Health Design the Momma's Kit

The Momma's Kit is a new design-forward health monitoring system designed to help reduce mortality rates among Black women. This addresses the alarming statistic that this community faces maternal mortality rates three times higher than white women. The system was designed in collaboration between design firm Leadoff Studio and Spora Health, a US subscription-based primary care provider for People of Color.

Leadoff Studio worked closely with Black patients, doulas, doctors, and physician assistants to create an empathetic and intuitive design. The Momma's Kit monitors vital signs on a daily basis via a blood pressure cuff and pulse oximeter. Spora Health maintains that "as much as 80 percent" of the common conditions contributing to maternal mortality in Black individuals can be detected.
