Modern Culture Disney Makeovers

This Artist Imagines Disney Princesses in Their Current Culture

Poland-based comic book artist Katarzya Witerscheim created modern culture Disney princesses based on modernized themes. Each Disney character received a culturally accurate update, which eliminated the traditional dresses for a more appropriate outfit.

While each princess is from a distinct nationality, their outdated appearances do not match current cultural statuses. These images aim to depict the evolution of particular cultures through animated characters. For example, Pocahontas has a stylish mohawk and is dressed in a bright yellow jumpsuit.

Even current Disney characters such Ana and Elsa from Disney's Frozen movie wear long dresses. However, this artist dismissed the traditional Disney themes and gave the two sisters over-sized sweaters, leggings and short hair. The modern makeovers showcase the artist's talent while addressing the changes within various cultures as well.
