Eva Berendes's Mixed Media Pieces are Unique and Three-Dimensional

Mixing the fundamentals of painting techniques with the abstract design world, Eva Berendes's mixed media pieces are playful, visually appealing and very different than what's out there.

The Berlin-based artist comes from a traditional painting background but wanted to do something unique, so she started combining the staples of space and color taught in the art world with abstract objects and figurative sculptures.

Berendes's mixed media pieces transform the traditional idea of canvas into huge metallic wire-like grids that the artist welds by hand. She then starts to hang completely random objects from the grids like everyday things that include newspapers and umbrellas, discarded junk items like a ruined umbrella frame and pretty-looking hand-dyed silk pieces.

Using the dividers as the paintings, Berendes gives these pieces of art a different physical presence then that of a normal canvas.
