Tissue-Like Lighting

The Misha Table Lamp by Taeg Nishimoto is Simplistically Sculptural

At first glance, a person might mistake the lampshade of the Misha Table Lamp for a discarded piece of tissue paper. Crumpled on top of the bulb, there may be a sculptural essence to the design, yet that is initially lost in its similarity to a common household object. Of course, the Misha Table Lamp explores the idea of fabric's behaviour in lighting.

Designed by Taeg Nishimoto, the Misha Table Lamp is part of his BT series. Interestingly, the material used is not actually tissue paper. Instead, it is made using 100% post-consumer plastic bottles. Hardened into it final form, the lampshade is a play on light and shadow. Fixed using two sets of metal wire connected to the plastic tube, the light fixture may have an artistic presence, but it is very minimal as well.
