Plane failures usually end in catastrophic disaster, but one man is trying to capture every miracle crash with a happy ending. In a series of photos entitled 'Happy End', Dietmar Eckell documents plane crashes where everyone on board survives.
Fifteen abandoned airplanes that had miracle landings are photographed in this surreal collection. Many of these planes have been lying untouched for several decades. The planes were abandoned because their salvage value wasn't enough to warrant retrieval. With so much time without human contact, the planes shown in 'Happy End' have been absorbed into the surrounding landscape.
This project is amazing because it contrasts heavily against our negatively focused media. By documenting only positive events, Eckell is helping us overcome the barrage of depressing stories that we see every day.
