The 'St. Moritz Church' is Now Sporting a Glorious Minimalist Design

British architecture firm John Pawson has redesigned the 'St Moritz Church' in Augsburg, Germany, into a brand new minimalist church. Founded around 1000 years ago, the church has definitely been through a number of different transformations, but none as stunningly modern as this new design.

The redesign was done in a way that still kept the integrity of the church intact while totally revamping the entire style. Replacing the glass windows with thin slices of onyx was a brilliant touch, as it allows for the sunlight that shines through them to be dispersed, which allows for the entire church to be lit up. The numerous artifacts that the church housed were spread around so that it would create a more spacious look to the now modern interior. With Portuguese limestone floors and dark wooden pews, this minimalist church is definitely a step in the right direction.
