Urban Electric Scooters

The Mini CitySurfer is Inspired By Kick Scooters

BMW's Mini CitySurfer is a folding concept vehicle that is inspired by the classic kick scooter that I used to break furniture and terrorize the family dog back in the day.

The Mini CitySurfer concept is designed to be compact enough to be folded and easily carried on buses and trains or in the back of a car. This 'last-mile transportation' solution weighs a manageable 40 pounds.

The scooter, which has a thumb-operated accelerator, is equipped with a lithium-ion battery charged by a 12-volt automobile socket or a regular wall outlet. Regenerative braking allows for a range of 15 to 25 km.

BMW hasn't revealed whether the Mini CitySurfer will ever enter production. However it's refreshing to see a prestigious luxury vehicle manufacturer entering the electric scooter scene.
