Microclimate systems have been a hot topic of late and V8 Architects' project for the Dubai Expo 2020 is a testimony to that fact. The Dutch firm is collaborating on a structure that is identified as "a closed-loop climate system" with Expomobilia, Kossmann Dejong and Witteveen+Bos.
A venture into sustainable architecture, the cone-shaped pavilion boasts a facade that is composed of plant rings. The collaborators identify their experiment in microclimate systems as "more of a biotope than a building." Attendees of the Dubai Expo 2020 will be able to survey the sizeable structure through a transparent rectangular facade that will shield the fragility of the stunning development. Inside, V8 Architects will treat visitors to an auditorium, large exhibition space, lounges, a restaurant, and a shop.
It is projected that the biotope will be the intrinsic intersection of "water, energy, and food."
