Sculpted Metal Clothing

This Fashion Collection Uses Metal Fabrics to Create Chic Pieces

Playing with metal fabrics to create a sense of art in fashion, Kingston University graduate Marie Cunliffe recently debuted an utterly stunning graduate fashion collection.

The collection Cunliffe's sculpted to life is airy and billowing, full of interesting little creases and fascinating textures. Having used copper-foiled lace and satin woven with metal to create her flawlessly chic pieces, the young designer wanted to replicate the different colors and patterns she saw in an aerial photograph for her metal fabrics fashion collection.

"My inspiration for the collection was taken from aerial images of the earth, focusing on the unusual patterns that the contours create," says Cunliffe.

By adding copper-based metal to fabrics, Cunliffe was able to imitate the land forms she was so taken by into silhouettes, print and textures.
