Upcycled Airbag Fashion

Mercedes-Benz & Heron Preston Created a Capsule Using Recycled Materials

Mercedes-Benz and Heron Preston teamed up to make the most of recycled airbag materials and upcycled materials from the carmaker to create a stylish and sustainable capsule collection. There are designs for men and women in the capsule and they pay tribute to the functionality of the airbag with components that have the ability to inflate and deflate.

The designs help to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the airbag, as well as the 40th anniversary of the life-saving feature’s use in Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, specifically the S-Class from 1981.

The American fashion designer also created exclusive merch designs that will soon be up for grabs on the resale platform Goat. There's also a series of films and images shot by Thibaut Grevet that shows various auto models alongside the sustainable capsule.
